on the head lice issue:
Since using anti-lice shampoo my kids have been free of lice for a
couple of years. I buy a non-chemical shampoo (ie not containing sodium
lauryl or laureth sulphate) made by a company called enviro-care (buy in
bulk from a co-op and divvy it up with your friends!). If you buy the
'sensitive' skin one then it is a base to which you can add your own
essential oils. (The non-sensitive one contains a variety of esential
oils). The anti-head lice oils are eucalyptus, lavender and geranium.
If the blighters still get through, rather than resorting to yukky
chemicals, combine 40 drops of each of the above oils to 100ml of oil,
leave overnight; massage into hair and scalp; leave on all day or night;
shampoo out then comb with nit comb.
Using the shampoo I have found we have never had an infestation. I still
check their heads every now and then and occasionaly find a solitary
louse or a parentless nit which I pick out and that's it.
Hope this is of use to all those contemplating the clippers....
