<< Well done Tina
You deserve a place of honour, not just a place.
I hope the course is challenging enough for you. The midwifery profession
needs more mature women who as new graduates are committed to taking on
their own case load and not just shifts that suit their lifestyle.
I wish you every success as you progess through your studies.

Hello Jan and others who have extended your congratulations and best wishes
on my being accepted into ACU to study the Bachelor of Midwifery (I still
can't believe it !!). My sincerest thanks to you all for your continued
support and encouragement in my quest to become a midwife. The support,
advice, and encouragement from members on this list is an invaluable resource
for those of us learning the art and science of midwifery. Your wise
contributions are highly valued and appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you Jan especially for your comments. I can tell you now on behalf of
members of the Australian Bachelor of Midwifery Student Collective, that
central to our wanting to be midwives is independent practice (caseload),
continuity and woman centred care. The future of Australian midwifery looks
sunny and bright, and with continued support from our midwife mentors and
wise women as our teachers, birthing can and will I believe be returned to
women - the matriarchs of birth.

Yours in birth,
Tina Pettigrew
