Clary Sage is contraindicated during pregnancy.  It is listed as an emmenagogue, which is probably why.  It may be used to assist with labour pain once in labour.

Subject: clary sage

Can anyone offer any advice?

The delivery suite I work in has recently banned the use of clary sage on anyone in labour.  The reason for this is that it may stimulate other women in the unit who have been admitted with threatened prem labour.  Is this reasonable?
