Try a product called Lifestart by Natren, available at chemists (in the fridge) it is intended for breastfed babies but may help to reestablish a healthy culture in her gut.

Try to eliminate the problem before the baby is born, but if you can't, be very careful with hygiene including washing your hands before handling your breasts, feeding or touching the babies mouth (to avoid spreading it and causing oral thrush in the baby) The baby may also benefit from the lifestart.

Subject: Candida in pregnancy

Dear All,

A 28 weeks pregnant woman is very distressed by ongoing thrush - it is causing pain and strain in her marriage as well! She has been following the anti-candida diet for three weeks, so far with little success.Do any of you out there have some advice for her please as it is driving her slowly nuts! Thanks in advance,

Alison Reid
