Dear Rhonda and listers
it all depends who is on sometimes hospital mws are wonderful often and I go to hospitals frequently.
BUT
I am fresh from a hospital birth a birth that was very enpowering for the woman ,a learning experience for the husband and obstetrician and the pits for me the independant midwife.
THE WOMAN WAS INDUCED AFTER 48HRS WITH RUPT MEMBRANES she had to have a CTG monitor attached it was her 1st babe and she begged for an epidural the hospital midwife stared at the machinary never touched the woman and at every oppurtunity reminded her that it was going to be a long haul. despite her, the baby was delivered by the mother and father in record time and without drugs The mother was extremly grateful that her husband and I ignored her pleas,[ she had told us if all was progressing to encourage her and not to give drugs] it was the constant remarks by the obstetrician and very kind mw saying you won't see your baby by nightfall/ this is only the start things havn't warmed up yet/ your cx is swollen/ your contractions arn't strong yet/ lets turn u up/ we must get a tracing to make sutre your baby is ok/that kept wearing her down.
 How do women do it.
At home its nothing like that NOTHING
WELL SHE GOT OF THE BED WENT IN THE SHOWER AND HAD HER BABY AND SHE IS SSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GRATEFUL THAT SOMEONE BELIEVED IN HER.-----
