Lets hope we are quiet over here because of the holidays and not the fires. It hasn't been a pleasant time - with the heat and smoke and so many houses being threatened. Today the smoke is less, but unfortunately it is reasonably windy - which won't be helping the fire fighters at all.

Happy New Year Mary and to all the midwives in the wonderful wild, west!
Yes, most of us are here ... but as Jane said the fires have been leading to a lot of additional work, keeping us all busy one way or another even if we aren’t directly fighting them ...
Also have been spending some additional time with a student midwife visitor from Seattle (Maralyn) who is wanting to meet with other midwives.
Hope all are giving thought to the potential crisis for autonomous midwifery practice if the College Executive is not able to firm up an insurance deal at their next meeting. That issue should be first priority on everyone’s agenda for the New Year ... trying to come up with some bright ideas that they want their state representative to action at the next College Executive Meeting.

Is there anyone out there East of the border? I am not sure if there is something wrong with the system or if everyone in the East is too busy with fires, holidays etc to chat. Would appreciate a response from our Eastern seaboard sisters. Cheers, MMurphy
