Or... At an estimated (by Barb) cost of $3,500 per uncomplicated birth the saving would still be $6,712,000. Which isn't to be sneezed at! But if specific funding went into the community to educate women, and provide midwifery care to the majority of birthing women (as the CMP endeavours to do) then I'm sure many more $$$'s would be saved than just those saved through a reduction in the elective c/section rate.
