Dear List
If you are living in Vic, please phone in, and tell this inquiry that women
are not satisfied with maternity services that do not meet their needs, and
result in too many caesareans and other operative births.
If you can't phone or live in another State, please go to the website (see
below)
Tell them that
*Women need access to COMMUNITY BASED MIDWIFERY, with primary care from a
known midwife, and birth in the hospital or home, attended by the known
midwife.* .
This has been proposed to the Minister for Health, by Maternity Coalition,
with support from ANF. Tell the inquiry that this must be included as a
strategic imperative in the Discussion Paper.

PLEASE LET YOUR VOICES BE HEARD.
[If you want a copy of the DHS flyer about this, I can send it to you as a
Word attachment.]

The Victorian Government is putting together a Women's Health and Wellbeing
Strategy, which aims to:
* Improve the health and wellbeing of women, particularly those most at
risk
* Provide a policy framework for planning, funding and delivery of services
to women in relation to their health and wellbeing

A Discussion paper has been developed, outlining key issues facing
Victorian women, and proposed action areas and strategies to respond to
these.
We are keen to hear what you have to say about the Discussion Paper, and
this PHONE IN is another opportunity for you to tell us what you think.
