I don't know if it has been mentioned before, but the first book I read when I first went into private practice was "Heart and Hands" by Elisabeth Davis. It has been updated in the last 5 yrs or so.  I know it would be available at CAPERS or ACE.  It taught me that birthing women were not just vessels being delivered of a baby and gave me skills to change my attitude from  the medicalised model I was then basing my practice on to a woman oriented approach.  Cheers, Mary Murphy
