Thanks for the support. But what do I say to these ppl??? Some of them are
close friends!!! I already tried the whole "but in the UK its always been
this way...you dont have to be a nurse", and I get the, "but this is
Australia" thing. It furiates me. Frankly, I dont care if Ill be less of a
midwife!!! I just want to do it. I definitly dont want to nurse, dont care
if Im a team leader or not, and I dont care if I get paid less!!! If I had
to go through a degree of nursing first, to be honest, I wouldnt do it. Ive
also been told that I would be paid less than a midwife who was a nurse
first, and that it mustnt be a very good course because it only runs for 3
years. Ppl are afraid of change.

Subject: re BMid

Dear Macha,
It really peeves me to hear you being told all these negatives, you will be
no less a midwife for doing the BMid, I am actually a bit peeved that it
wasn't around when I did my mid because I certainly would've done it. I
honestly believe midwifery is a profession in it's own right so if this is
so then it should have it's own degree, so go for it. All these negative
people will just have to start getting there head around it, it is here now
and it is here to stay and I would like to think increase with each
state/territory taking it on. And if you don't feel like taking them on
then just ignore them,

fed up with the negatives, yours in midwifery pete malavisi.
