Carroll,

The Defence Health Fund has a Mother Care Program which I have been lead to
believe includes home help and a variety of other services.

It is part of the Member Support Program, available to those mothers, who
leave hospital early (Must have support of the doctor and hospital staff).
Services include as midwifery, early childhood nursing, home cleaning, baby
monitor, cloth or disposable nappy services and or childcare.

To qualify you must be eligible for obstetric benefits at the time you have
your baby, be admitted to one of the selected agreement hospitals and elect
to go home early.

Further information on this program can be found at
http://www.defencehealth.com.au/indexm.htm. Click on the Mother Care Link.
There is a PDF file available for downloading.

Subject: postnatal discharge programs: support what you say

Hi: Can anyone help? I am after more information on the home help program
discussed in ACA last night (didnt see it) and also any other similar
programs around Australia. Anything you can give me - even just the names
of the service providers and I can chase them up myself. Thanks. Liz
