Well done Jo. Sept.11 was a big day last year for
other reasons, however, I also remember how wonderful our Caesarean Awareness
Day Conference was in WA and I am looking forward to the next one.
I'd encourage all midwives to support the consumer groups who do a fantastic job
for the women they represent and support. Cheers, Lois

Hi everyone,
September 11 is actually the National Caesarean
Awareness Day initiated last year by CARES SA. We encourage anyone out
there to do something (anything really) to promote awareness of the issues
surrounding cs and vbac. Last year two conferences were held one in SA
and the other in WA; two new cs support groups were formed and there were a
number of small activities held by consumers and professionals. for more
info on NCAD, check out the CARES web site http://homepages.picknowl.com.au/caressa
This year CARES is holding a picnic and asking
people who have birthed by cs or were perhaps born by cs themselves to
personalize a heart. Hearts will be on display on the day. We have
face painters and a belly dancer who will be conducting teaching sessions (a
belly born preforming belly dancing!) If you would like to dedicate a heart,
or know someone who might, contact me via email. If you like you can
email the details of what you would like put on the heart and we can do one
for you.
CARES SA support coffee morning is being held
this Wednesday at 10am in Flagstaff Hill SA. Please call me on 08 8388
6918 if you would like to attend. All welcome. We ask a gold coin
donation, tea and coffee supplied.
CARES have also been approached by Adelaide
channel 10 to do a story on CARES and the lead up to NCAD late next week. We
have Dr Brian Peat talking about consumer groups (positive things of course!!)
and a mum talking about the importance about having her choices for a vbac
respected. I am not sure when it goes to air but will let you
know! I have also worded the journo in on the NMAP launch in
Adelaide...she seems quite interested!!!
cheers loverly ladies!
