dear list, just wanted to share the story of an amazing woman. My husband's Great-Grandmother, in Austria, gave birth to 20 live babies. We think the first was born in 1909, don't know when the last was born, but thought to be all reasonably close together. Only one set of twins. After numer 19, she re-married and then had another baby. Also was caring for some of her grandchildren as well. It's possible there were other pregnancies as well. Don't know about breastfeeding or who attended her births, most likely a midwife though. I have been given a couple of her pillow cases to use and as I lay my head down I wonder what stories it could tell.
