If there is a medical problem - as suggested - if the skull is not growing at a normal pace then this may be causing headache from pressure (this should be checked.  Also, if a dose of panadol stops the head hitting one can presume that pain (head pain in particular) was the problem.
Kids are good at telling us what is wrong if we just listen to them.

My daughter was throwing herself off the bed - hitting her head on the floor at about 2yrs old.  Screaming.  As she was hitting the side of her head I concluded that she must be in some form of pain.  On inspection - she had an ear infection.  I guess when you have kids you will find all this out!

Rhonda.

Probably a stupid question from someone who doesn't
have kids yet, but how can you determine if an 18
month old has a headache if she can't speak?

I know that babies are excellent communicators & do
feel pain, but how can an adult isolate with certainty
where the pain is coming from?

Cheers, Jen
