Mary,   I have had an independent midwifery practice in the Bendigo area for many years but in May I decided to formally retire from clinical practice.   There is no birth centre as such anymore.    However, despite the insurance difficulties, one midwife has started independent practice here making two midwives practicing in the Bendigo area (though not together).
