I have to share this.....
Tonight, I took Vicki's poster to my
local.
I had two with me. One, I gave to the
owner, holding the other. There were two girls there and one asked
to see it. "Oh, its beautiful!", she said, "Are you a
midwife?." I said yes, then she asked me about
traumatic births, particularly forceps.
She remarked that maybe that was her
problem.
I didn't ask about her problems. She then related to me about her mother (55yrs), who has
suffered from depression for some time.
This girl of 26 seemed to have such perception on
traumatic birth and later psychological difficulties.
Why she should, out of the blue, relate her mode of
birth to her own and her mother's problems seemed quite amazing, but totally
congruent to what I have read on birth psychology.
