I agree with you that we should control the collection of data as this can be 
very helpful, I would include in this the collection of data that we don't 
currently need as it can often be useful in the future for research evidence 
collecting etc.  It must however, not replace the descriptive written word in 
the notes from the midwife and we do not need to repeat ourselves on database 
and in the notes apart from the data we wish to collect when the computer 
systems are obviously such a help.
