Hi everyone,

Unfortunately, for Internet users viruses seem to have
become par for the course. I can receive up to 30 emails
a day containing one or other virus. Although, I can
happily advise you that no viruses have actually gotten
through to the actual list.

The best way to combat viruses is to take all the proper
precautions like installing a good virus software and keep it
updated, and not opening attachments unless you know who its
from and what the attachment actually is. With attachments you
should also check the file extension, a typical file extension
for a might look like "filename.doc.exe" or "filename.doc.bat".
The double extension usually means its a virus.

The best rule of thumb with attachments is if in doubt, DON'T.

Another thing that helps, as Jen suggested, is to update your
email software and avoid using Outlook and Outlook Express
which are infamous for spreading viruses without people even
knowing its happened until its too late. The email software
I use is Eudora. This software is available free. More details
about the software and downloads can be found at there website:
http://www.eudora.com/

The current virus "bugbear" that some people are having a problem
with has now become the most wide spread virus ever. If anyone
needs information about this virus, i.e. to get rid of it off
there computers or if they just want to read more about it, a
good webpage I came across is:
http://www.europe.f-secure.com/bugbear/

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions now
or in the future, I'm always to happy to assist were possible.

Regards
Kim
