Wow! that WAS a long one! I nearly didn't get to the end; glad I did. Now you have another of my beefs...artists (whether visual, performing, lit etc) being exploited/abused by bureaucrats. Getting paid as an artist is almost impossible. Depending on the art form, you have roughly a 3% chance of being in paid employment in your art. I've had it with the bureaucrats sitting in air-conditioned luxury offices, office staff, bar tenders, ushers, ticket sellers, printers, etc. getting paid, but the people who do all the work of putting on performances and have all the expense (which is considerable) are paying the venue for the privilege of performing and getting virtually nothing back. Enough is enough. May as well be a midwife!

*********
Time to step out of the brainwashing (them and us; litigation;
powerlessness; terrorism; perfection is a right - root out anything that
isn't) and bring back the wild women (and men) :-)

My guess is the arts is the way to do it - speaks to us/grabs us/shows us on
many levels - go Aviva, Vicki and Nic

need more songs, dances, plays, theatre, film, satire, sculpture, paintings
etc.....belly casts....lots of humour - great memory fixative...

warmly, Carolyn Hastie

ended up being longer than I thought :-)  trust it makes sense - have a
great week everyone!
