Dear listers

In following the emails today, I felt that I just had to share!   I was asked by my daughter to be a support person for her and her husband in their two labours.  My daughter is an extremely well educated/informed/aware young lady who is never backward in coming forward, especially when she really wants something.

She said that she would love me there firstly as her Mum, and secondly as a midwife (birth centre from way back) because I was someone that she trusted totally. Everyone at the birth in the birth centre was informed of what the pair of them wanted, what was negotiable and what WAS NOT!.   She trusted me to speak up for her when she couldn't herself, and if I didn't say anything then things were fine.

The end result was two of the loveliest labours I can ever remember.  Being there for someone I loved was squillions of times better than being there for births in the birth centre where I used to work.   And I also got to catch two of the cutest babies, Oliver  (he is now an interesting 2 year old) and his little sister Grace.

As has been stated on the list before, trust is the most important thing!

Judy
