Dear Sue, My heart goes out to you. As an ex-independent midwife now working in a level 3 hospital I see this attitude quite often. For some reason medical staff see the women as being their property to do with what they want, and woe betide any woman who has another view on how she wishes to labour/birth. This is the very reason why i find working in the delivery suite just too difficult. I am just about to embark on a new journey with chemically dependent pregnant women. A challenge I am looking forward to.
