Didn't hear the news about Moorabbin birth centre, it will be a great shame.
I have just assisted with a birth at the William Angliss Family Birth Centre in Ferntree Gully. I had bad reports regarding there reputation, but with this birth resulting in a water birth, the midwife had a totally 'HANDS OFF' approach, at no time did she even feel or assist in the perineum or even the shoulders, the birth was totally underwater and no assistance, and the Father was able to lift their beautiful son into Mothers waiting arms.
Totally no pressure for third stage and even cutting the cord.
I guess it depends on the midwife.
Maybe you could suggest she look into this as an alternative as well as the homebirth
