Hi Rachel,

I'm a Bachelor of Midwifery student @ Victoria Uni, in Melbourne.

My understanding is that if your do nursing first, after that you can
do a graduate dipolma in midwifery. You could do the Bachelor of
Midwifery instead of the grad dip, but the bmid is 3 years (though
you'd probably get some subject exemptions from doing nursing) & the
grad dip is 18 months.

Also, to my knowledge, the BMid is not being offered outside of SA or
VIC at present. You might want to clarify w/ the uni.

I'm not sure about pathways to get in to uni in terms of bridging
courses & stuff, I would think that the uni would have some answers for
you or atleast be able to point you in the right direction.

The Australian College of Midwives has some info about the BMid on
their site, I think. They're @ www.acmi.org.au

Please correct me if anyone has any different info!

Hope this helps, Rachel.

Kind regards, Jen
