Hi everyone This morning at 9am I organized a group of 6 wonderful women from the local area to visit our local representative Barry Collier. It took a few previous ‘phone calls to secure an appointment, but it was worth the effort. He was to say the least quite anxious when surrounded by 6 strong women – but we certainly felt we got the point across – and left very amicably Jan and Betty – local homebirth midwives – Victoria – doula – Natalie 39 weeks pregnant – Tanya with 3 week old baby  and myself. Armed with a copy of NMAP – which we gave him – we explained the current situation in Australia – and asked for his support etc and to ask questions of Craig Knowles about what is happening with Maternity Services. We all took the opportunity to speak – each giving their personal experiences of concerns of the current maternity services and discussed safety etc. He then gave us assurance that our local hospital Sutherland would be opening a birth centre soon and have a brand new maternity wing.
