Here's Alice's latest:

Hello hello hello!
Wow, it seems like so much has happened since i last wrote. But at the same time I feel like my life is a continual loop of running around doing the same things...over and over and over again......
Motherhood is the most precious thing i have ever done, but at the same time the most repetitive. It seems like i'm always doing things, whether it be playing and caring for Luna, changing nappies or doing all the other things that just need to be done to maintain a functional household, but at the same time it sometimes feels like there's nothing to show for it at the end of the day. Ultimately I am doing what I feel is one of the most important things anyone ever could, nurturing a new human life. Seeing the development in Luna from one day to the next is the most deeply fulfilling feeling, and every time she smiles it warms my heart and uplifts my spirit like nothing else ever before. Luna is awake for most of the day now. She sleeps a few times a day, but usually only for a half hour to an hour at a time, just long enough for me to run around and do a few basic maintenance things before she wakes again for a few more hours. Keeping her occupied takes a bit more effort now as her senses develop. She's not quite so happy to sit there and watch, she wants one on one attention! My intentions of doing other things like designing and sewing seem to be futile at the moment, but i am determined to fit this in somehow very soon!!!! The benefits of her being awake alot during the day means she sleeps all night! This is brilliant, for the past couple of weeks she has been sleeping from about 10pm to 6am! Woo hoo! Although i am aware that this pattern may only be temporary, i'll enjoy it while it lasts!
Luna is moving forward in leaps and bounds, well ok, not yet leaping and bounding, but her development is really fascinating. She has realised that she can do things with her hands. She looks at her hands alot, and if anything comes within reach, she reaches out to touch it. She doesn't quite grab things properly yet, but gets a really excited and fascinated look on her face as she touches things. She especially loves to touch daddy's nose and mummy's mouth....and she loves to put her fist in her own mouth, right in as far as it will go. When we put her on her tummy she uses all her effort and can lift her head up to look around for a few seconds, then it goes back down and she licks the rug for a bit....! We have her nappy off alot, it nearly goes down to her knees so having it off gives her a good chance to have a full wriggle. We have had a few accidents, like squirty poo and wee on things, especially on mum and dad, but hey, that's life.
It truly is remarkable to watch her development from day to day. And it is so beautiful to watch her personality blossom. She is a happy little munchkin and quite a little chatterbox. It's funny, if she suddenly wants something, she sometimes squeals in frustration rather than crying now. And sometimes when she wakes up she makes lots of vocal sounds rather than crying. I must admit it's nice to hear other noises rather than crying, although of course we still get a bit of crying every now and then, she just wouldn't be a baby without a bit of crying! Now it is much easier to calm her by distracting her with something to reach for!
It's funny to consider the changes that have happened to me since having Luna. My brain functions differently, things like intuition, patience, organisation and listening skills are much sharper, while my ability to concentrate on technical jargon seems to have gone out the window. My main priority in life right now is Luna's happiness, which is a wonderful survival skill mother nature has given to ensure the wellbeing and safety of our little babies. As i go about daily things I am constantly talking and singing to Luna, normally just about what i'm doing. "We are changing, changing changing changing, changing this wet nappy. We are wiping, wiping her clean, Here's a new one, new one new one new one, here's a new one, that's much better now...." or maybe we're "cutting, cutting cutting carrots, yummy for mummy yeah yeah" It's just one sing-song after another around here! Her little bright eyes take it all in, she sits there watching and smiling with arms flailing and legs kicking, little bubbles dribbling from her mouth, gooing and gaa-ing.......so gorgeous!
Sing-songs all day, walks in the park, sling rides on the bus, rattles on the floor, drinking mummy's milk, having nappies changed, grabbing faces....She's mummy's little wiggle biggle and daddy's little pumpkin bum....
