I know I may sound really naive and maybe I am, but ... BUT, I don't think wannabe OBGYN's start off hating women, I just think it is part of the culture which, though they may at first be appalled, they imitate just to fit in, then like any lie if you tell it often enough it becomes the " truth": finally they really feel this way. I say this because I hear midwives behaving like this too, complaining about the over sensitive, the complainers, the hypochondriacs, happy when a mum has decided to bottle feed and all she has to do is make up the formula, the whingers the whiners etc. etc.. And pity help someone who actually has a mental disorder. The health care system breeds this sort of disdain for patients of all sorts, and lets not kid ourselves, in the system the birthing women are patients.
