Wish melting the fat was that easy, a good fire and we would all be skinny.

I sometimes wonder how old wives tales are born. The other night I was taking a prenatal class, and we were discussing the use of heat packs etc. when one woman stated that a friend of hers had found ice on her back very helpful and used it for so long that when the baby was born it had been chilled. I agreed with her that as individuals we all find different things that work for us. However I reassured the group that as there is a constant flow of warm blood throughout the body and of course over this area as well and that cooling the baby this way could not happen. Especially as the woman would be generating much heat from her working uterus etc. Reminds me to also warn you all not to stand with your backs to an open fire so as not to melt the fat round your kidneys. Could it have been something a professional said that put this idea into the friends head? Katy.
