Thank you Mary. I have wondered why I wasn't getting my medscape newsletter and now i know : they still had my old email address.

This will indeed be an interesting study. It has been interesting to me how "hands off" has been adopted by Australian midwives. I personally didn't think the Hoop Trial was as definitive as midwives here and the UK did, but I put that down to a training bias (mine). I must admit after my training in the USA it has been hard to do and I am definetly more "hands on" than "hands off".

The ACNM Journal of Midwifery and Women's Health has many excellent articles. If you go to their web site: www.acnm.org you will also find an excellent guide to unassisted homebirth: not  as an endorsement of unassisted birth (and strong disclaimers about this) but as  a precaution/safety measure if a woman goes into labour in the event of a terrorist alert and literally  can't get to a hospital, an ambulance, or have an attendant come to her. Interesting.
