Dear Jessica, “Let’s Have Healthy Children” by Adelle Davis has a very interesting, very logical viewpoint on iron deficiency in pregnancy and how iron supplements can actually cause anemia in the absence of adequate levels of vitamin E. If you can’t get hold of a copy I can quote you the relevant bits.
