As you know, our state is enormous and there isn't much above Geraldton.  Even Geraldton does not have any resident homebirth midwives and is 3-4  hrs drive north of Perth. Nichol Bay hospital is "IT" I am afraid.  Perth is the only place with a Community Midwifery Program and only one Family Birth Centre at KEMH. There is no midwifery network outside of the Metro Area and further south at Bunbury through to Margaret River.  Please note the previous email I sent with contact details in Perth. I have copied them here.   The Commuity Midwifery Program has Resource Centres, Mums & Babies groups and lots of friendly midwives who would love to meet her.  She could phone me: 9440 1310 or email me [EMAIL PROTECTED] to find out  where to go.  Birthplace Support group have several groups: Faye Read on ph 9572 4821 [EMAIL PROTECTED]    there are other groups that we can direct her to. Cheers, MM.

I have a client who resides in Karratha, WA (about 1,600km north of Perth) and is hoping wholeheartedly for a natural and active birth, at home with a homebirth midwife (and doula) if possible.  I have not been in this area long enough to source such information, and the options available.  As far as I know, its Nickol Bay Hospital (Karratha) and thats it...? Somewhere she definitely doesn't want to go... How could she find out her options?  Is there a homebirth midwifery network that extends to the northern part of WA....? Or does she need to travel south to Perth...? (Most other family & friends is over East)
