Unfortunately, I didn't get to see the today show this morning as I was at work.
In my workplace, a rural setting in Victoria where we have about 600 births a year and a VBAC program of support for women with previous cesareans and acknowledge the trauma of previous births we (the midwife) stay with the family throughout including recovery and support the woman with her first breastfeed ASAP, skin to skin etc.
Since we have been doing this the women's experiences have generally been more positive (as have the midwives)
Also being in a  smaller setting we are able to follow the women through during their stay and often for their next birth (VBACs are very accepted and we have a great VBAC rate).

I find it sad that women's experiences are not acknowledged and supported.

Keep up the good work everyone and changes can and do happen.
