Breastfeeding into toddlerhood and beyond: the experience of mothers and
 children

A study of looking at the experiences of mothers and children of
sustained breastfeeding is being conducted. If you live in Australia and
are
*currently* breastfeeding a child 2 years or older please consider
requesting an information letter which will explain more about the
background of the study and what is involved. Participants in the study
are simply required to complete a survey that asks questions about their
breastfeeding history, the breastfeeding history of their child, their
feelings about breastfeeding an older child and aspects of the
breastfeeding relationship. It also contains a small number of questions
for mothers
to ask their child. This is the first time that the viewpoint of the child
as a member of the breastfeeding relationship has been considered. A
summary
of the findings will be available to all survey participants that indicate
 they would like this information.

The instigator of this study is Dr Karleen D Gribble. Karleen is an
 Adjunct
Research Fellow in the School of Nursing, Family and Community Health,
 an
Australian Breastfeeding Association Community Educator and mother to
 two
children, both of whom breastfed for an extended period of time. The
 study
has been approved by the Human Ethics Committee of the University of
 Western
Sydney and the Australian Breastfeeding Association has given permission
 for
participants to be recruited via the association.

Please pass information on about this study to any who you believe may
 be
 interested in being involved.
