South Australia
Maternity Coalition and CARES SA
presents:
The‘With
Woman Reception’ Acknowledging achievements
towards
Greater Woman Focused Maternity Care
in SA
To
implement change in a system requires dedication, devotion and damn hard
work. Many individuals and groups
have spent endless hours working on strategies and developments to improve
birthing experiences for women.
Some are working in the system. Some are working outside. Some have dedicated their lives to
improving the system through work or through volunteer
activities. In South Australia we
have the highest caesarean rate in the country. We have a declining birth rate. We have an active home birth
population. We have a shortage of
midwives. We have two leading
universities making history by offering a Bachelor of Midwifery. We have a successful community midwifery
program. We have an active, responsive and highly motivated consumer
network. We have care providers
stepping out from the boundaries of their profession and making options
available to women that are not available elsewhere. We have dedicated
politicians who work tirelessly to bring the maternity issues to the attention
of government.
In order
to acknowledge, congratulate, and in accordance with the Maternity Coalitions
week of action, The ‘With Woman
Reception’ will be held on Friday May 7th, 2004. Your
ticket will ensure you an evening under the night sky in the stunning
surroundings of “Sandows End”
vineyard, Verdun, indulging in connoisseurs wine,
sumptuous food and an opportunity to mingle with South Australia’s motivated,
dedicated, caring maternity network of groups and individuals. Share our pride in the giant steps
forward we have made with maternity care in the past decade. Reward yourself for the hard work and
sacrifices made to ensure that more and more women have access to woman focused
maternity care. Learn more about others who have also contributed to changes,
and be inspired. Progress is working
together with women! For further details, please contact Jo on 8388 6918 PO Box 1013 Nairne 5252 Reply ASAP, 2004.
