Title: Last Stab at a national event prior to an election??
Hello All
Maternity Coalition is holding a national press conference on July 15 in Melbourne.
We hope that Julia Gillard will be in attendance along with a health economist and a celebrity of some description. Barb Vernon and I will also be there.
We hope Julia will denounce Tony Abbott’s plan to allow Obstetricians to cost shift their entire fee to Medicare and through that the new safety net arrangement. I attach a recent article from the Age below and to make a loose commitment to tied grants for community midwifery programs (like Alternative birth services but we will not be using the word alternative!!)
