It reads:

TO THE HONOURABLE THE SPEAKER AND MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES ASSEMBLED IN PARLIAMENT:
The petition of certain citizens of Australia draws to the attention of the House the current problems faced by Woman in regards to Maternity services offered in Australia today:
-diminishing access to maternity services in rural and regional areas
-lack of one-to-one midwifery models of care despite consumers demand
-undue emphasis on expensive acute medical services and neglect of preventative early-intervention oriented midwifery models of care
-caesarean section rates at around 30% which is twice the maximum recommended by the World Health Organisation as necessary for safe childbirth rapidly increasing costs to the public health system despite decreasing choices for women
Your petitioners request the House to upgrade the models of care currently offered to woman by implementing, funding and promoting of the National Maternity Action Plan, developed by Australias consumer and midwifery groups.
