This was an article on ABC online this morning FYI. - Great result!Breast is best for 1,684 record-breaking babies
Australian mothers and babies have set a new world record for the biggest simultaneous breastfeed in one country. At 11:30am (AEST), 1,684 babies began to feed in 42 locations across the nation. Soozie Bice from the Australian Breastfeeding Association says today's event highlights the importance of breastfeeding. "The benefits of breastfeeding are so enormous," she said. "So much research has been done into this now. There are benefits not only for the baby but also for the mother and for the community." Adelaide had the biggest breastfeed in one location, with 389 babies feeding at the same time at a local netball stadium. But that was not enough to break the current record for the largest simultaneous breastfeed in one location which stands at 1,130. That record was set in California in the United States. |
