Hi all,   I've been following this discussion with much interest, as I'm about to go to NZ for their college conference (have I told you all that yet!? :)   I did my Mid through the UniSA, a post grad BMid, (1 year full time after first becoming a nurse).  I have a friend who was in my group, and has just returned from NZ after working in an independent practice for the last 3 years.  I will email your mail to her Kirsten, and see what she has to say, keeping in mind that she was a 'nurse/midwife' rather than a direct entry midwife (I'm actually so jealous of you, wish I could have done it that way!)   Will let you all know what she had to do to convert her registration when I hear back from her...   Tania x ----- Original Message ----- From: Callum & Kirsten To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Saturday, September 11, 2004 6:03 PM Subject: Re: [ozmidwifery] NZ Midwifery Hi Tania,  I am also a kiwi here in Australia. I am also doing direct entry (at unisa even) and i have looked at going back to NZ, BUT there are issues with registration over there, as midwives in NZ can prescribe certain meds etc. I looked into registration and would have to do extra training and supervision over there.
