You suggest that this woman has been told that the placenta needs to be half a cm more away from the os to meet somebodies criteria. its either over the os and will therefore impede the baby or it isnt. If bleeding occurs then the situation needs to be assessed at the time.
When I did my mid I was told a story by George Thoms an Obs about a woman who had a grade 4 placenta praevia who begged him to let her go home from a/n clinic to organise her kids and pack her bags for admisssion. She never made it back. He was adament that women with G3 or 4 placenta praevia should bein hospital and stay there once it is diagnosed.
My current experience is that doctors seem to be complacent about it and if the woman has not bled then they are ok at home. Out here in the country some woman are along way from help which can be slow to organise in a time critical situation and it concerns me at times

katrina can you put this out on oz mid......hi,
i am a birth attendant & have been supporting a woman who has a low lying
placenta. she is 28 weeks & the placenta apparently has half a cm to move.
she had a bleed last week but is fine now & looking to check at 32 weeks.
is there any way she can encourage her placenta to move?
at what point can it be determined that she should definitely have a CS?
can
she continue to have scans until say 38 weeks to see if it moves?
she has been told not to have sex as the pressure could cause problems?
she has been told not to exercise either.
any suggestions would be appreciated
