I'm told by this woman that there is a great difference (and someone correct me if I'm wrong) between having your own independent midwife, who uses another as back up, and being allocated a midwife as part of a group of anything up to 8 midwives, with no guarantee that you will have someone you've met with you in labour. She really wants to birth at home, with a midwife she's built a relationship with, not in a birthing centre, with someone from the same practice as her midwife. Hope that helps!
