Thanks Sue,
I certainly meant no offence to anyone. I was just trying to get the
point that some women find the efforts that some midwives will go to
'help' them breast feed can be extreme ("you would try harder if you
were stranded in the desert" was one such comment). There are many
reports of women having their breasts grabbed, pinched and hurt, this
can be considered abuse. The term I used was one that others have used.
I could have as easily used the "breast bitches" which is another.
Personally I find them both offensive but offending people was not the
point of me using the term.

Hey, if people find my posts offensive then sorry. But it is not going
to stop me from participating in this list. As people have commented,
this list is for discussion about serious topics. I think it is a
serious issue that some women find the support offered by some midwives
borders on abuse. I tell it the way I see it or hear it. I am a
consumer and have no professional biased. The onus of importance for me
is the women.

If people want to focus on wording and semantics rather than the actual
context of the post then so be it. Just don’t read my posts if I offend
you.

Once again, I am sorry if any persons took offence. I in fact find it
insulting to assume that I myself am not of Jewish persuasion. How would
anyone know? I assure you I am the last person to willingly cause
emotional harm to anyone: race, religion or sexual preference!

Cheers
Jo Bainbridge
(Just to clarify it is not the other Jo's on the list)

And I'm really dissappointed to see that, once again, one cannot express
an
opinion without a reaction such as this.
If offense has been taken, it is on the part of the taker, for none was
intended.
I know that many people are afraid to express themselves in this forum
due
to such instant flaming, really it becomes quite boring when one has to
watch every word for fear of this. The expression just is... I make no
excuses for it, many terms have become entrenched in our rich language,
many
of them have unsavoury origins.
I am sad that this is the only thing you have taken out of mine and Jo's

posts
Please lighten up - and have a nice weekend
