Hi Jo
As I read your email "lots happening in Adelaide" I am wondering if any midwives in South Australia are wanting/needing professional indmenity insurance and provider numbers.
I am not sure if you are aware, we are launching a Media Campaign and attending our 2nd Midwives Insurance Summit in Parliament House Canberra on June 15th thanks to the sponsorship of Senator Aden Ridgeway. The Agenda is almost complete. After the Media Launch we will have a round table conference with invited politicians and then return to the rest of the days busines of developing a National Strategic Plan and Submission to be deleivered with a broker and a midwife to Lloyds of London.
If any SA midwives would like to attend please send RSVP soon. Our next summit will be in July at ICM. You can also join the Group to keep up with progress on http://au.groups.yahoo.com/group/Midwives_Insurance/ if anyone has trouble joining let me know and I can send an invitationt so you just follow the prompts. Save the password they supply.
It would be appreciated if you could forward this email to South Australian Midwives. We currently have Australian midwives in private or group practices, some who are employed in hospitals and students who are looking forward to insurance and provider numbers. The aim is to draw up a National List that identifies how many midwives are needing/wanting insurance and provider numbers. The details required are: NAME: STATE: POSTCODE: EMAIL: MOBILE/PHONE and can be forwarded to by email [EMAIL PROTECTED]
We look forward to hearing from you all in SA we are also seeking midwives in Tasmania so if you know anyone over there please pass on the word.

Ah, there is lots happening in Adelaide at the moment Jeannine! Are you interested in working group practice? W&CH have a successful and expanding MGP ad then there's the Northern Women's Community Mid program. Mount Barker have got a wonderful unit (despite being GP dominated, the GPs are very supportive to MW. The FMC midwives are keen to apply for an MGP rumor has it and the QEH CEO is keen to get a midwifery model up and running also. These are all limited opportunities but it is worth a try. SA also has the highest cs rate in the country and an awful vbac rate! We have four active consumer support groups. Two unis offering B Mid and I know both Uni SA and Flinders have very proactive midwifery academic units! What part of Adelaide are you hoping to move to? You can contact me off list for a chat if you like. Jo Bainbridge CARES SA Maternity Co. Bloomin Good Birth~ doula service

Hello list, I'm Jeannine, wife, mum (2kids and 2 dogs) and midwife. I was on the list some years ago and have had a break away. I was wondering if there is anyone on the list currently working in Adelaide in Mid who can give me some inside info on services available, models of care, best places to work etc. I will be moving there from th NT at the end of the year. I'm also doing my masters in midwifery at the moment so if anyone has information on access to library services, universities in adelaide, or any interesting mid articles or texts they'd like to share would be appreciated also. If anyone out there just wants to chat and compare notes I'd love to. Nean
