Thank you Sue, Rosie and Marion, and all the wonderful people who have supported us. We are calling ourselves the Mareeba Midwifery Group Practice. That means that we are not totally bound by Birth Centre rules. We can't be as we are still offering the ante-natal care for high risk women in their own town, they only have to birth in Cairns or Atherton. As far as possible their midwife will be able to travel with them and birth with them. They will be able to come back to us as soon as they are fit. We will also be able to do elective CS here if we can find the Drs to do it which should not be a problem so those women will also be able to access midwifery care and birth in their own town. Regarding overweight, we are obliged to send the morbidly obese women to Cairns to birth but we should be able to go with them and they can come back as soon as they are fit and have their postnatal care with us.
