I forgot to say that the oxycontin 5mg 2-4hrly is prn. There is a wide variation amongst our patients, as to how much of the prn oxycontin is given. Some manage without any at all, but most have several doses on the first day, and a couple on the second.
However, reading the other responses, it does sound like a lot. Perhaps depends what was used in the spinal in theatre. We don't use morphine in theatre, so that may be the difference. We used to use Prolodone supps which we found very effective, but they were replaced by the new regime.
