Sadie,

Apologies.
I generally see the woods very clearly.
I'm wondering what this prejudice you speak of entails ?
From within the profession or outside it ?
Surely a good midwife is just that: good.................aren't your peers just relating to you as competent or not ?
Is their opinion not performance related?
Do you think you are being unfairly treated?

Curtin University of Technology in Perth has been producing fantastic nurses and midwives for years! Isn't it a shame some people can't see the wood for the trees? As if we don't have enough prejudice to overcome...........

I don’t think UTS’s name has any relevance to what degree they teach, they are still a university. Frankly they have the best BMid in the country.

Have I got this right?

The plan is ......... for midwives to be trained in a school of Technology ?

Good Grief !!!

Someone please tell me that we are still considering ourselves health professionals who specialise in pregnancy care. NOT Technicians.

Please ? Maybe just a little reassurance...........

Hi all,

My name if Julia and I am an aspiring midwife. I am new to the list and am enjoying lurking thus far.  However, I am wondering if there is anyone out there who is currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Midwifery at UTS as I am hoping to get into this course next year.  Specifically how are you finding it in general?  Also work/uni/family balance issue?  What does the timetable look like?  How are the midwives on prac treating you?  Please email me off list if you think it is not interesting to majority of group (it probably isn’t…).

Cheers,

Julia Vaughan
