What is their problem?? As you are not a staff member you are not bound by their policy. I was once asked to answer to the DOM and a paed at a hospital and I told them just that. You are employed by the woman and may do anything she allows you.
One wise midwife told me of a discussion at a hospital where the women would not allow any of the hospital staff to do a VE. The women would allow her independent midwife to do it. In the end she explained to the bemused staff. If this woman said I may put my fingers in her vagina then I can. If she said that you can't then you can't. If you want the information I'm happy to share it with you. Sally Westbury Homebirth Midwife "Learn from mothers and babies; every one of them has a unique story to tell.
