Hello Diane,

My understanding of the use of garlic is that it reduces candida infection. Women with candida are more likely to develop a growth of bacteries in their vagina. When you treat the candida, often the pos GBS screening becomes negative. I don’t know if there is some research about it. I got the information from a midwife friend who is also herborist. With positive candida, I recommend 1gr of vit C /day, eating a lot of garlic or taking garlic supplement and reduce all intake of sugar. Also Pau d’ arco tea is very efficient to reduce candida, also trush on nipples after birth.

Normally I am not recommanding to use anything vaginal. Only depping with camille tea and calendula tincture (one cup of tea and 10 drops calendula) when itching is bad.

Greetings,

Lieve

Onderwerp: [ozmidwifery] Garlic for GBS?

Does anyone have any good references on the use of garlic to treat GBS???  We have several women with previous GBS approaching "swab time" who are interested in this.

Ta,

Di
