I have had surgery that went very wrong & I was really sick. 
The most common reaction by colleagues was, "are you going to sue"?

I didn't because I have a moral & ethical code I personally adhere to which 
entails (amongst other things) the fact  that I am not infallible myself. 

Lack of apology or even any acknowledgement denied me a legitimate space to 
grieve though !
Shame.
