I realize that there is a lot of concern about iron stores and Hb levels. But the honest truth is that we overdo the iron in pregnancy.  The body has a very definite process of controlling iron levels in pregnancy.  Ever wondered why well nourished women in the West have such “low” iron levels?  Maybe it is because that is the way the physiology of pregnancy intends it to be?  I can’t comment on anything else, but there is plenty of info out there to counter the scenario of “you’re pregnant?  Well start taking iron.”  Just at the time that the body is deliberately dropping iron levels.  MM
