IS anyone able to clarify this for Paul? If most of your things are solutions/feature sets, You should be OK to go with the re-deployment and if you any have files, I would suspect just copying them would be fine. Being that it is also the SSP, it may cause some trouble, but it may not also as if the database is right, then just enabling solutions/features should get it sorted out (with a bit of luck also). Fairly confident all our customisation have been deployed as solutions. I'm more concerned about synching them again. Our SSP also sits on this box. What I don't know is if there is any synchronisation between the WFEs themselves, or if any changes to them comes from Central Admin server only. But if you have any binaries/features installed manually in WFE you have re-install it manually. Here is a article http://sharepointnotes.wordpress.com/2008/01/10/adding-an-extra-server-to-an-existing-sharepoint-farm/ about adding a new WFE. For your case you may have to remove the Faulty WFE before doing anything. We have a small problem. Our production environment has two web front ends. All servers are virtual machines. Someone (not me!) managed to revert one of them to a previous snapshot by clicking the REALLY BIG BUTTON on the VM window that performs this wonderful task. Upon realising the mistake we immediately shut this box down. Question: If we can't selectively restore this box (which we can't!) is it possible to just copy across the 12 hive and any custom DLLs from the other WFE?
