Subject: Update sitewide metadata

Hi guys,

Does anyone know of a script builder or utility that will allow me to update
the particular column value of all documents across a site collection?

Like many organisation our struggle to achieve a definitive and functional
content management plan has resulted in the creation of various site columns
and their associated custom content types. Over time we have introduced new
columns, renamed others, and overhauled the option and lookup list values in an
effort to refine.

One of the dreaded problems with this is that SharePoint applies text-based
rather than lookup values at a document level. This means that if you delete or
rename a list value, for example, it is not updated or deleted accordingly.

Kind regards,
